Utilising space to the maximum, built and equipped to the highest standards

Abbotskerswell Veterinary Centre (AVC) & South Devon Referrals is a brand new first opinion and multi-disciplinary referral centre. Prior to opening in September 2009 the building, dating from ~1750 has undergone a major transformation in Abbotskerswell, nr Newton Abbot, Devon. Working within the confines of an old building, efficient use of space and light were a key element when deciding on furniture and equipment for the practice - the end result - a friendly new practice, built and equipped to the highest standards.

AVC contacted Technik Technology, when they began working on the new practice to see how we could help with many standard items, but also to look over designs for bespoke, and specifically designed items. It was within the dog kennelling area that the team discussed their needs with Technik. With its awkward corners, Technik were able to design a walk through kennel system that utilised the space and created two kennelling areas, including isolation facilities. Ian Sayers BVSc CertZooMed MRCVS, one of the practice partners, was delighted with the outcome, and the extra space this created. "The Old Cider Works is a perfect base for our new practice, with great space and lightness, but with all old buildings, some of the rooms are small, or awkward shapes - we needed to work with someone that could accommodate this, and utilise the area into a positive space, whilst retaining some of the character of the building"

Within the consulting rooms Technik were able to provide fold up tables, that can be secured out of way when not in use, ensuring space is at an optimum. "The tables make the most efficient use of the space available and are moved quickly, easily, quietly, and light enough for one hand. They provide a sturdy work surface yet can free up space within the room for larger patients" said Ian Sayers

Technik's low level electric lift tables were also ideal for the new practice "They are a joy to use, most patients are happy to walk directly onto them before being lifted, thanks to the low drop height" said Ian "They're also easy to manoeuvre or lock into position"

"The finish of the work throughout our practice is extremely impressive, and we are very pleased with the final look of our centre"

The Newton Abbot practice shows innovation which is evident throughout the building. They currently care for all companion animals ranging from dogs and cats to rabbits and the more exotic mammals, birds and reptiles. Technik Technology are extremely proud to be involved with such a friendly veterinary practice, and wish them every luck for the future.
